Resources
NeuWrite SD is also working on collecting resources for budding science writers like ourselves, as well as for curious minds who are interested in learning more:
- Neuroscience Blog Roll: A list of active neuroscience blogs in our community and others
- Writing Submission Resources: Information on how to submit to various science blogs, magazines, and journals
From our fellow NeuWrite on the west coast, here’s a comprehensive article about how to get into science writing, with lots of useful links at the bottom.
And a resource currently without a home, for those looking for more serious writing opportunities:
AAS Mass Media Fellowship: This 10-week summer program places graduate and post-graduate level science, engineering and mathematics students at media organizations nationwide. Fellows have worked as reporters, editors, researchers and production assistants at such media outlets as the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio, Sacramento Bee, and Scientific American. Participants come in knowing the importance of translating their work for the public, but they leave with the tools and the know-how to accomplish this important goal.
